What to Expect at Your First Martial Arts Class in Valencia

Walking into a martial arts school as an adult is no small thing. Most people don’t know what’s going to happen, what they’re supposed to wear, or whether they’ll be able to keep up.

Here’s what a first class at Good Fight actually looks like:

You arrive to a calm, focused room — not a chaotic gym full of shouting. People introduce themselves. There’s no hierarchy, no intimidation, no pressure to “be tough.”

We begin with simple movement: posture, balance, breath, and fundamental karate mechanics. Everything is taught step-by-step so your body can find clarity instead of confusion. Then we add applied skills: striking technique, footwork, timing, and safe padwork. Partner drills are slow, controlled, and respectful — beginners are always supported, never thrown in over their heads.

You’ll sweat, you’ll learn, and you’ll leave feeling better than when you walked in. That’s the goal.

If you want to train without ego, noise, or intimidation, join the newsletter and get early access to our spring classes in Valencia.

Justin Lockwood

I grew up on a kind of hippy-commune where all my toys were made of wood and imagination was my only screen time. This forced me to be a creative thinker from the start. I drew and sold my first logo when I was twelve and still feel inspired every day to discover new ways of communicating peoples stories and passion. I create things that are designed to be used and enjoyed. Not just admired but interacted with. That demonstrate knowledge and feel personal. Because this is what makes design memorable.

During my almost 20 year career I've been lucky to work with some of the world’s most admired brands — companies like Alaska Airlines, Lululemon, GAP, Madison Square Garden, Target, TOMS, HBO, Marvel, TED, and CNN. In recent years I've helped startups including AutoLotto, Spoon Rocket, Healthiest, Trizic and Prevail design successful products and raise millions in funding.
